This is the reply we got from Dr. Gross:
Curt,
I would start with Dr. Downs. If you eye is getting dry, then you have a reason for the eye pain. There is a worrisome area on your scan at the base of the skull where the cancer was first discovered. If this is recurrent cancer, then it could cause headaches and face pain as it gets bigger. I suggest that if your eye is ok after you see Dr. Downs and you still have the pain, then it may be worth seeing Dr. Chui or Dr. Holland again to discuss options.
Dr. Gross
So on Tuesday, January 6, Curt is going to see Dr. Hudson for his followup on the hernia operation at 11:15 in Corvallis, and then we will drive to OHSU for an appointment with Dr. Downs at 4:30.

Hi, kids...I just finished catching up on the news and copied out your latest blogs for Paul. Good grief! What a lot of activity! As I read all this, I am struck by several things--first of all, the damn work it takes to deal with health issues! Joan and Curt, I feel for you both for setting and meeting and coordinating all those appointments with multiple doctors in multiple cities, getting the prescriptions, timing the medications, making the phone calls and playing the phone tag. I have some experience with this kind of thing, and you have both my sympathy and my admiration!
Another thing this brings to mind is how difficult it is to get good information, even on one's own condition. You mention in one place they didn't tell you Curt was getting a PET scan at the same time as another test. Aren't they supposed to tell you stuff like that, and deliver the results? It is so hard to keep up on all this!
Finally, I would like to thank you again for writing this for all of us, Curt's friends. It is a kind and brave thing to do at a time when you have so much else going on. Keep up the good fight! We will be pulling for you!

Hello Joan and Curt,
I've been on and off reading your blog since I discovered it. After reading the frenzy of activity centered around Curt it makes me wonder why this sort of thing happens to good people. Keep poosting and keep us up to date. I am in Florida, retired from teaching in the public schools but currently homeschooling my 2 granddaughters. Life is always busy which keeps me young (at heart). My husband, Bob, is struggling with diabetes and open wounds on his feet but is able to help me with the 5 year old while I work with the 10 year old. Again, keep blogging and we will add you to our nightly prayers.
